Doodoo privacy policy
Doodoo is a voice typing button for Android, made by Zain Ikhlaq. This page explains what it does with your data. Last updated 5 November 2026.
What Doodoo collects
Voice recordings. Doodoo records audio only while you hold or lock its button. When you finish, the recording is sent to Groq to be transcribed, using the API key you entered yourself. The recording is deleted from your phone once it has been transcribed or discarded. Groq’s handling of the audio is covered by Groq’s privacy policy.
Your Groq API key. It is stored on your phone, encrypted with a key held in the Android Keystore, and is excluded from cloud backups and phone transfers. It is only ever sent to Groq, as the authorization for your own requests.
That is everything. Doodoo has no accounts, ads, analytics or crash reporting, and contains no third party libraries. Neither the developer nor anyone else receives your audio, transcripts or key.
Accessibility service
Doodoo uses Android’s Accessibility service for two things only: to show its button beside your keyboard, and to type your dictated text into the field you are in. Android offers no other way to do either. The service checks which text field has focus and where the keyboard is. It does not read what you type or what is on screen, keeps no record of any field, and sends nothing anywhere.
Other permissions
- Microphone, to record what you dictate.
- Display over other apps, which Android requires before it will let an app use the microphone while you are in another app. Doodoo draws nothing with it.
- Notifications and a foreground service, so a recording is not cut off if the screen times out while you are talking.
Updates
Copies of Doodoo installed from Google Play are updated by Google Play. Copies installed directly from GitHub check GitHub for new releases and download them, sending nothing about you.
Deleting your data
Doodoo keeps nothing on any server, so there is nothing for the developer to delete. Uninstalling the app removes your key and any recording still on the phone. To delete audio held by Groq, contact Groq.
